Ayoze Perez must have thought Halloween was this weekend, as he seemed to act as the invisible man against Palace.
He was nowhere to be seen, and not even the regular ‘he works hard’ comment can rescue him this week, as he looked well and truly out of his depth.
He is in the side as a playmaker and he needs to offer the team that quality first and foremost.
His performance was a key reason why Newcastle looked so lacklustre and there was a clear difference when Mo Diame came onto the pitch in his place.
He perhaps rescued himself with a goal last week, but there can be no excuses now and he should find himself axed from the starting line up.
