Another major disappointment, and it must be asked how long Rafael Benitez is going to persist with starting the Spanish striker.
He offered virtually nothing against Palace, not helped by a lack of service, but he needs to learn how to impact the game when his side are struggling.
Whether that is dropping deeper to receive the ball or drifting out to the flanks to assist his team mates, there needs to be a change, as it simply was not good enough against the Eagles.
Aleksandar Mitrovic returned to the side from the bench on Saturday and although he is perhaps not trusted by Benitez after his suspension, there is no doubt he offers something different to Joselu.
