Perhaps lucky to even be eligible to be playing after his misdemeanours against Southampton, the American put in a solid shift against Palace.
Was caught in controversy when Yohan Cabaye scythed him down with a scissor kick in the first half, but did not allow himself to retaliate later on throughout the match, showing good temperament and maturity.
He did not manage to show the same attacking threat as in previous weeks but managed to deal with the threat of Wilfried Zaha and then Andros Townsend effectively, and was the only member of the Newcastle back line not to be booked.
