Medical insider: Emil Krafth in line for Newcastle United scouting role as ACL confirmed
Emil Krafth could potentially conduct some scouting or analysis work for Newcastle United as he recovers from his anterior cruciate ligament injury.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
Krafth, 28, was forced off with a knee injury in the Magpies’ 2-1 League Cup victory over Tranmere Rovers last Wednesday (24 August).

As relayed by The Athletic last Sunday (28 August), Eddie Howe has now confirmed that the Swedish right-back has ruptured his ACL.
He is likely to miss the remainder of 2022-23 as a result.
But Dinnery suggested that the Tynesiders will find a way for Krafth to continue to be involved in the day-to-day at Darsley Park.
“We know he hasn’t yet had surgery,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“That could be down to several factors. Sometimes the club may suggest the player returns to his homeland to see family and friends.
“It isn’t going to impact your timeline because the understanding is that he is out for the remainder of the season now. It’s just an opportunity to take a break before his focus shifts to the 2023-24 season.

“When he’s back, the hard work begins. But they will keep him involved in the day-to-day running of the club. We have seen players in the past sent on scouting missions and doing other things for the manager or analysis.
“It comes down to the individual and how they want to take things forward. There is a lot happening at Newcastle at the moment and I’m sure they will find a way to keep him involved in the day-to-day.”
