Medical insider names Bruno Guimaraes return date after ‘ugly’ Newcastle United development
Bruno Guimaraes will return to action for Newcastle United in time for the clash against West Ham on 11 September – but there is an outside chance he could be ready even earlier.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
Guimaraes, 24, has been a leading light for the Magpies since his arrival from Lyon in January.

But the Brazilian midfielder was missing from the matchday squad as Eddie Howe’s side drew 1-1 with Wolves last Sunday (28 August).
As quoted by the Tynesiders’ media team on Tuesday (30 August), the manager revealed that Guimaraes is “not far” from a return.
Newcastle face Liverpool on Wednesday (31 August) before meetings with Crystal Palace on Saturday (3 September) and West Ham the following Sunday (11 September).
Dinnery forecasts that Guimaraes will make a speedy return and play a part in at least one of those fixtures.
“It’s a hamstring problem,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“It reared its ugly head in the Tranmere game.
“Ordinarily, the manager might have taken the decision to remove him from the field of play. But there were concerns that the game could have gone to penalties, and they wanted Bruno on for that.

“It’s not serious. He isn’t 100 per cent ruled out of the game at Anfield, although I heavily suspect that would be the case.
“With that being said, there’s maybe an outside chance for the weekend, if that doesn’t happen, then certainly the following fixture.”
