Newcastle United news: Medical expert issues ‘huge’ Callum Wilson claim
It is “hugely important” that Callum Wilson does not return prematurely from injury at Newcastle United.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Wilson, 30, has been sidelined with a calf injury since late December.

This site revealed last month (15 March) that the striker is confident of returning against Norwich City next Saturday (23 April).
Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast last Friday (7 April), the St James Park favourite confirmed: “It will be towards the end of the month.”
But Dinnery urged caution and insisted it will not be the end of the world if Wilson misses his target.
“You have to do what you feel is necessary to get you through and push you on,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“It’s important to remember that these return dates are never set in stone. There are always going to be bumps in the road.
“If he isn’t back, it’s not the be-all and end-all. It’s a process and sometimes your body responds how you’d like it to, while sometimes it doesn’t.
“So this timeline is good but you don’t want to be governed by itself too much. It’s hugely important that you don’t overexert yourself.
“If it takes him another seven or 14 days, that’s okay. The focus is on getting him fit and ready for next season.”

Wilson has registered six goals in 15 appearances this term.
The Magpies are now 15th in the league table, 10 points outside the relegation zone with seven games to go.
