Newcastle United news: Callum Wilson tipped for ‘new role’ as comeback date revealed – expert
Callum Wilson could play a “new bit-part role” when he returns from injury at Newcastle United.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Wilson, 30, has been sidelined with a calf injury since late December.

The former Bournemouth man has sought specialist treatment in Dubai and London during his layoff.
And this site revealed last Tuesday (15 March) that the striker is now confident of returning against Norwich City on 23 April.
But Dinnery argues that Wilson may be limited to a supporting role as he regains his fitness.
“I’ve always maintained that if you get Wilson back before the end of the season, that’s a bonus,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Wiliams.
“Realistically, the end of April was the timeline. That gives him a chance for Norwich or Liverpool.
“You would hope Newcastle are safe by the end of April. That will have a massive bearing on Eddie Howe’s decision and how hard he pushes Wilson.
“He gives them something different in attack and it would be great to see him and Chris Wood play together.
“But I can see him being managed very carefully and conservatively. It might just be a bit of a new bit-part role for the rest of the season.”

Wilson has registered six goals in 15 appearances this term.
Eddie Howe’s side went on a nine-match unbeaten run in his absence and are currently nine points clear of the relegation places.
