Newcastle United striker signing to pave way for Yoane Wissa transfer

Newcastle United’s expected summer striker signing is set to seal an exit for Yoane Wissa this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies have identified a new frontman as one of their top priorities for the upcoming transfer window, and they are willing to consider offers for the 29-year-old as a result.

The Tynesiders have already accepted that they are set to make a “big loss” on the DR Congo international, with sources indicating that they don’t expect to come close to recouping the £55million they paid to sign him last year.

Wissa has struggled dramatically since he left Brentford to move to the North East, and the club are now ready to try and move him on in bid to boost their own transfer budget.

Newcastle are facing a rebuild after a disappointing season on the pitch, and that is set to include a revamp in the attacking areas.

Eddie Howe has ‘no confidence’ in Yoane Wissa

Football Insider recently revealed that Eddie Howe has “no confidence” in Wissa’s ability to perform for his team, with the boss and his staff having totally lost faith in him.

The veteran is now seen as the fourth-choice striker at St James’ Park, something which would never have been foreseen when he first joined the club last summer.

Anthony Gordon, Nick Woltemade and William Osula are all above Wissa in the pecking order at the moment, and he hasn’t started a game for Newcastle in any competition since 7 February.

Newcastle have had issues in front of goal for large parts of the season, and they are working hard to try and address that as part of their efforts to strengthen this summer.

The arrival of a new frontman appears set to seal Wissa’s fate, with nobody at the club providing any sort of resistance to the idea of moving him on.

PIF ready another signing spree at Newcastle

Football Insider revealed last week that Newcastle’s PIF ownership are eyeing another big spend in the transfer market this summer, to help push the team back towards the European places next term.

Howe is keen to “reshape” his squad ahead of next season, and several ins and outs are expected at St James’ when the transfer window opens.

The club hierarchy are on board with the manager’s plan to revamp the group, and are set to sanction another significant spend to ensure that the squad gets the upgrades that are desired.

The Magpies’ hierarchy are determined to be back fighting at the top end of the table again next term, and they have already accepted that it will come at a costly price in terms of the planned new additions.
