Newcastle United ‘sure’ to complete transfer before Nottingham Forest clash after update – pundit
Newcastle United will sign a new attacker before their opening Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s transfer struggles.
On Tuesday (26 July) Football Insider revealed Newcastle are plotting a move for Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque along with Leicester and Crystal Palace.

Newcastle have struggled to make a breakthrough in the transfer market after bolstering their defence with the signings of Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman.
As quoted by the Chronicle (25 July), Eddie Howe has admitted the club’s next transfer we’ll be “one of the most important I will make” as the Magpies look to bolster their attack.
Kenny is certain a new attacker will arrive before Newcastle’s Premier League opener on 6 August.
“It’s no secret that Newcastle need some new attackers, a right-winger and a striker,” Kenny told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“It’s that striker that is the main one. With Gayle going, if Wilson gets injured then they are left with Wood who scored twice for them last season.
“They have money left in the bank, we know that. I think at this point it is probably about finding the right transfer.
“We know Howe wanted them in early doors and they managed to get those defenders in, now they need goals.

“Newcastle have the money to make things happen and I’m sure they will get one of those players in before the start of the season.
“Everyone knows they are one Wilson injury away from losing a lot of attacking threat.”
