Kieran Maguire tips Newcastle to hire ‘world class’ transfer expert as new details revealed
Newcastle United will look to hire a “world class” negotiator and transfer expert as their new chief executive.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the ongoing hunt for a new CEO at St James’ Park.
The position has been vacant since Lee Charnley’s departure shortly after the £305million Saudi PIF-led takeover in October last year.

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi have acted as proxy CEOs but are in the market for a dedicated exec to join the behind-the-scenes team.
Staveley told The Athletic last Saturday (26 February) they have had “the most incredible candidates come forward” for the position.
Maguire outlined what the new regime will look for in a chief executive.
“You’ve got to have someone who is a world class negotiator with experience in the transfer market,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“You have got to know when to hold em’ and went to fold em’ when you’re sitting across the desk from someone trying to sell you a player.
“When Chelsea and Man City were acquired by very wealthy parties, the market for both clubs became inflated.
“So someone with good knowledge is absolutely essential, especially given that they are going to be expanding in an FFP environment.
“They have got to be a good communicator and be able to liaise and recognise the contribution of other members of the behind-the-scenes team.“

Staveley and Ghodoussi also outlined plans to expand St James’ Park and improve training ground infrastructure at Newcastle.
The Magpies are 14th in the Premier League after a seven-match unbeaten run.
