Newcastle United tipped to sign Chris Wood replacement after source’s ‘sensation’ reveal – pundit
Joao Pedro would be a good upgrade on Chris Wood for Newcastle United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted Pedro is “unproven” in the Premier League but “worth a punt.”
Newcastle sources told Football Insider earlier this week (15 August) that the club have submitted a £20million bid to Watford for the 20-year-old.

They want to recruit a new centre-forward before the transfer window slams shuts at the end of August and view Pedro as someone with the potential to be a Premier League sensation.
He has three years left on his contract at Vicarage Road but Watford have already sold some of their top talents following their relegation to the Championship.
Emmanuel Dennis was sold to Nottingham Forest earlier this week (14 August) for a reported £20million fee.
“I think he would be a good player to have in the squad,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Chris Wood is not good enough for me.
“I think he came on late on in the game at the weekend but they need a better backup to Callum Wilson.
“For me, Joao Pedro is still unproven but he’s worth a go, I reckon, worth a punt on.”

Wood has only scored twice in 19 Premier League appearances for Newcastle and is under contract until the summer of 2024
The New Zealand international, 30, moved to St. James’ Park from Burnley in January after the Magpies paid his £25million release clause.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has saluted the “very sharp” Newcastle United as a £30million transfer plan emerges.
