Newcastle United tipped to sign two Bruno Guimaraes allies after news in recent hours – pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Newcastle United to sign two midfielders who compliment Bruno Guimaraes in the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Guimaraes will be a “top midfielder” and needs players of similar quality around him.
The Brazil international, 24, made his full home debut in the 1-0 win over Wolves last Friday (8 April).
As quoted by club media today (15 April), Eddie Howe hailed his “steely determination” on the pitch.
Guimaraes has now played 10 times in the Premier League since his January move from Lyon, including four starts.
Asked for his verdict on the Rio de Janeiro-born ace’s start to life in England, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “He looks good.
“What I like about him is that he wants the ball in any situation, he can take touches on the ball, he plays forward. He has that good arrogance on the ball. It looks like he’s going to be a top midfielder.
“If Newcastle can sign cleverly in the summer, get two more midfielders around him, they can go places. They are definitely on the up.
“They’ve got the funds to do it and they are looking like a good team, Newcastle.”

Guimaraes, who has six caps for his country, is under contract at St. James’ Park until the summer of 2026.
He was one of five January signings along with Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood, Dan Burn and Matt Targett.
In other news, Newcastle United have made a move to win the race to sign a 22-year-old as personal terms are agreed.
