Newcastle United tipped to spend ‘absolute bomb’ on Tammy Abraham after ‘£100m’ update – expert

Newcastle United could sign Tammy Abraham this summer as they look to make a “marquee” addition.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “brilliant” Serie A star.

Abraham, 24, scored his 22nd and 23rd goals for Roma as his side beat Lazio 3-1 on Sunday (20 March).

On Wednesday (23 March) The Daily Mail reported Roma are prepared to demand £100million for their star man this summer.

Newcastle United may be in the market for a striker this summer with January signing Chris Wood only scoring once in 10 appearances for the club.

Callum Wilson’s injury issues could also prompt the Magpies to scour the market for a new striker and Kenny claims Abraham fits the bill.

“What a season he’s having over there,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s been brilliant for Roma and loads of clubs are going to be interested in him this summer.

“He’s done in in the Premier League and he’s still young so it makes sense as a signing.

“One thing to consider is that it is easier to score in Italy than in the Premier League.

“He would also cost an absolute bomb but you get what you pay for and Newcastle have all of the money in the world.

“It would be your marquee signing the owners want.”

As per The Daily Mail’s report, Chelsea have the option to re-sign Abraham for £67million.

The striker scored 30 goals in 82 games for the Blues.
