Newcastle United to cash in on Jacob Murphy after ‘sudden’ development – pundit

Newcastle United can now sell Jacob Murphy for considerably more than they could have in the summer of 2022.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Murphy, 27, has started Newcastle’s last two games after coming off the bench in the previous seven Premier League matches.

In Saturday’s (8 October) win over Brentford, the winger scored his side’s second, tapping into an empty net following after Callum Wilson capitalised on a David Raya mistake.

Following his goal, Wenham claims Newcastle may try to offload Murphy in January.

“Newcastle in their last two games, they haven’t just done it, they have done it in style,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Lots of goals from lots of different goalscorers. Jacob Murphy scored, even small things like that when you look at how many games need to be played, it’s really important if you can get those others chipping in.

“Even with the likes of Murphy, if he stays amongst the goals until January then suddenly he is worth a bit more money and he could go for a lot more than Newcastle were maybe hoping for.

“It’s exciting for Newcastle that they have all of these players doing really well and once again I have to credit Eddie Howe.”
