Kieran Maguire: Newcastle United to ‘easily exceed £200m’ after source’s record reveal

Newcastle United could “easily exceed £200million in revenue” for the current financial year.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest news from behind the scenes on Tyneside.

A financial source told this site on Tuesday (13 December) that Newcastle registered club-record turnover for the 2021-22 campaign.

The club’s previous all-time high was £178.5m, and the Magpies will better that when their accounts are released at the end of March next year.

They will, however, post a loss for the year after PIF spent heavily in January to stave off relegation, a feat they easily achieved under Eddie Howe‘s management.

Newcastle have reached new heights in 2022-23, both in the sporting and commercial departments.

And Maguire forecasts that they will again break their in-house turnover record this season.

“I think we could easily see Newcastle significantly exceeding £200m in revenue for 2022-23,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“They are potentially on for a 3rd-place finish, and you get another £2.5m per place. That is a great start as far as the club is concerned.

They have announced new deals, one of which is the sleeve sponsorship which is a significant upgrade on the previous partnership.

They have also gone for the small-but-often approach when it comes to individual deals. They were conspicuous by their absence during Mike Ashley’s tenure.

They are now trying to leverage as far as the brand and excitement that is associated with the club at the moment.

“Clearly, they are using their links with PIF in the MENA area for commercial arrangements.
