Newcastle United told to avoid rivals’ ‘rejects’ after triple transfer update – pundit
Newcastle United should not sign “rejects” from other Premier League sides.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s transfer policy.
According to The Telegraph (16 January), Newcastle are plotting a move for Hakim Ziyech this month as Chelsea look to offload a number of fringe stars.

The report claims the Magpies are also lining up moves for Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Ziyech has notched just 14 goals and 11 assists in 97 games since joining the Stamford Bridge club for a reported £33.3million in 2020.
McManus claims Newcastle should be aiming higher.
“Those lads, Chelsea’s rejects, why would Newcastle want them?” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“Let’s not forget that Newcastle are above Chelsea in the table. If any club should be doing another club a favour, it should be the other way around.
“I don’t see how any of those players come into Newcastle and make them better. They add a bit of depth, that’s it.
“I don’t see any of them coming in and changing everything. It’s not a signing that guarantees European football.
“Then again, Newcastle haven’t made a bad move in the market since the new owners do you have to have faith in Howe and the recruitment team.”

Newcastle are yet to make a signing this month.
The club’s only transfer news of note was confirmation that Chris Wood has joined Nottingham Forest on loan.
In other news, one pundit has backed Newcastle United to announce a “surprise” signing “out of nowhere” after update.
