Newcastle United told to sign ‘unbelievable’ Ilkay Gundogan after ‘surprise’ update – pundit
Newcastle United should make a move to sign Man City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan this summer.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about where the Magpies can strengthen this summer.
According to the Daily Mail‘s Mike Keegan (17 May), Gundogan, 31, is set to leave the club this summer.

The midfielder has just over 12 months remaining on his contract at the Etihad.
It is reported that he has been told he is free to find a new club despite his prominent role this season.
Kenny insists Newcastle should make a move for the “unbelievable” midfielder.
“If Newcastle are interested they have the funds to get him in,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He has vast Premier League experience and he is still a really good player, I’m surprised Man City would let him go.
“He scores goals and he’s an unbelievable player, I would certainly be looking to make a move if I was Newcastle.
“I think he can take that midfield to another level and he’s a winner as well.
“The experience he can pass on to some of those players, you can’t buy that.
“Whoever signs him will be making a fantastic move.”

Gundogan remains an important player for Pep Guardiola, contributing eight goals and six assists in 42 appearances this season.
He scored also scored a remarkable 17 goals from midfield in the 2020-21 campaign.
