Newcastle United will ‘definitely miss’ Bruno Guimaraes after injury latest – pundit

Paul Robinson fears Newcastle United will “definitely miss” Bruno Guimaraes if the midfielder misses the trip to Fulham through injury.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed the 24-year-old is the Magpies’ “best player.”

According to Globo Esporte (24 September), Guimaraes will not feature for Brazil against Tunisia because of a thigh injury and has headed back to Tyneside.

The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope claimed (26 September) that the problem is only small and is not thought to be serious.

Eddie Howe’s side travel to Fulham this Saturday before welcoming Brentford to St. James’ Park the following week.

When asked by Football Insider how big a blow it would be for the Magpies to lose Guimaraes to injury, Robinson said: “They have two important games coming up because they have not won for so long.

“They have drawn too many games against teams they should be beating. Yes, they have winnable games coming up but Fulham and Brentford have started the season well.

“Bruno Guimaraes is their best player so he will definitely be a miss for them. He is a top quality player. The next level of player. They will be signing more players like him when they are challenging at the top.

“On the flip side, Brentford and Fulham are games Newcastle can win without him being there so it may not be the worst time. There is two ways to look at it.”
