Finance Guru: Newcastle owners will have already made Matthias Jaissle sack decision
Newcastle United's owners will change nothing on the pitch by sacking Matthias Jaissle just weeks into his tenure.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that PIF won't be swayed by early "paper talk" around the manager's future.
The Magpies are currently sitting 11th in the Premier League table after a topsy-turvy start to the 2026-27 campaign, with key injuries being picked up.
Losing 4-1 to Coventry City certainly set off some alarm bells, though, with newspapers feeling the need to confirm that Jaissle is not even close to being sacked just yet.
The Magpies losing several key stars, such as Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, during the summer needs to be taken into account, and certainly their replacements as well.
Newcastle's squad has reduced significantly in age and experience, and some of that is showing on the pitch, so fans could be in for a long process.
Matthias Jaissle sack pressure is just 'paper talk'
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has warned supporters not to start calling for the manager's head, with the new players needing time to adjust to the Premier League.
"It's just inevitable that if you effectively sell all of your most experienced players and bring in a whole load of players under 21..." he said.
"It's going to take time for those players to bed into a completely new league. So I can't believe that they're in any way shaken by the situation.
"I don't know what the fans' view is, but I think people have just got to be patient, really. I think when you get in this scenario, you've got no choice but to be patient if you're signing players of that experience.
"What is the other option? Just changing the manager is not going to be an immediate fix to it. I would think that they wouldn't do anything despite the paper talk."
Where are Newcastle United likely to finish this season?
Not all the games have been doom and gloom so far. Newcastle even kicked the season off with a five-game unbeaten streak.
Injuries to Anthony Elanga, Amar Dedic, Nico Gonzalez, Dan Burn and Jacob Ramsey have played their part in recent struggles, but many of them should be returning now.
The game against Aston Villa at St James' Park on Saturday, 17 October will really show where the squad is at, and what they're capable of.
At this current rate, Opta has predicted the Magpies to finish 11th in the Premier League on 50 points, with an 8.93 per cent chance of being relegated.
