Jacob Murphy's chances of landing Newcastle deal revealed
Jacob Murphy will earn a new contract at Newcastle if he impresses Matthias Jaissle this season, sources have told Football Insider.
Jaissle has already taken a liking to Murphy's leadership and professionalism since he was appointed at St James' Park.
Newcastle turned down two separate offers from Nottingham Forest for the 31-year-old in the latter stages of the summer window, with the latter bid believed to be worth around £15million.
Murphy is clearly well-liked on Tyneside, but is currently on course to leave for free at the end of his contract in June next year.
Newcastle are planning to hold talks with Murphy over a new deal, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, and he will be handed fresh terms if Jaissle believes he can still have an impact beyond this campaign.
The Magpies' longest serving player is yet to start a Premier League game so far this season, with 12 minutes off the bench as they held Bournemouth to a draw on Saturday afternoon.

Murphy has racked up 227 appearances for Newcastle since he arrived at the club back in 2017.
He came in for some criticism for his performances last season, but has been offered a clean slate by Jaissle as he looks to earn a new deal.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "It's up to the player to see if he can win a new deal at Newcastle. They do risk losing him for nothing next summer when his contract expires.
"If Murphy can perform and do well between now and then, then it's something that Newcastle might look at and give him a new contract because he still is only 31, and I'm sure the player will feel he still has a lot to offer to the club as well."

Matias Fernandez-Pardo joined Newcastle as their marquee summer signing on Deadline Day, with Jaissle keen to improve his forward line.
The German maintains a desire to add to his attacking options in January, with sources revealing to Football Insider that Newcastle could explore another move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Kofane in January.
They were interested in signing him throughout the summer, but their interest came to no avail, with Kofane having scored two goals in as many games so far this season.
