Joelinton set for new role at Newcastle when he returns in twist
The north-east club are planning to keep hold of Joelinton, 30, beyond the January window despite rumours to the contrary.
He has been sidelined since mid-August with a muscle injury but is nearing a return to action after the international break.
Joelinton was linked to the Saudi Pro League in the summer following the departures of midfield teammates Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Jaissle is counting on him to add extensive experience of the league and club's demands to his young squad in the coming months.
The Brazilian midfielder was confirmed as the Magpies' new vice-captain, with Dan Burn as club captain, by the new boss before the start of the campaign.
Joelinton remains key to Newcastle's plans after vice-captain decision
Jaissle displayed his trust in Joelinton by handing him an official leadership role before he even featured in a competitive clash under his management.
The 30-year-old recently spoke of his willingness to help the club enter a new era under the German boss, and he is not set to leave anytime soon.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "He’s vice-captain at the club, so that just shows the high regard that he's held at St James' Park.
"I think he'll have a key role for Newcastle this season and beyond, because obviously we know that the project that Newcastle are undergoing right now in signing young players with high potential and high ceilings.
"They'll obviously need some experience and understanding of the club around that, and Joelinton offers that in abundance, so I think he's got a key role to play."
Nick Woltemade set for Newcastle exit after Juventus loan
Woltemade was forced to feature in midfield for Newcastle alongside Joelinton last season after struggling for form in attack.
Jaissle allowed him out on loan at the start of the month as he joined Juventus for the season without an option or obligation to buy included in the deal.
Despite those agreements not being included, sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Woltemade has no future at Newcastle under the current boss.
He does not fit his style of play, and so the Magpies are hoping to drive up his price tag before a sale next summer.
