Matthias Jaissle given blueprint for Nick Woltemade to explode at Newcastle
Nick Woltemade's future at St James' Park looks all but over after being loaned at for the season by Newcastle United.
Supporters were divided over the record signing in 2025-26, who continued to struggle as the main man in Eddie Howe's system.
Towards the end of the campaign, he often found himself on the bench. And when he did get onto the pitch, it was normally out of position.
Of course, the last manager had huge success converting Joelinton into a centre-midfielder, but Woltemade is undoubtedly a talented No.9.
Matthias Jaissle has not been given the chance to work with the German international, but that could change when the 2027-28 season kicks off.
With three goals and one assist in three Europa League matches for Juventus, those back at St James' Park should know now how to make him thrive.
Nick Woltemade can make a huge return to St James' Park
It has already been reported that Juventus have no desire of making Woltemade's loan spell permanent, likely due to his price tag.
Newcastle will have to welcome him back, and with very few able to pay for him next summer, Jaissle may have no choice but to make room for him.
That is not a bad thing, despite his most recent displays for the Magpies. Howe simply didn't know how to use him. Jaissle is being given the blueprint to make him shine.
He played the full 90 minutes of Juventus' 2-2 draw with Rennes on Thursday, 22 October, scoring and assisting, getting FotMob's Man of the Match award.
He also created two chances, unleashed seven shots, missed one big chance, completed 100 per cent of his dribbles, and completed 100 per cent of his long balls.
Defensively, he was just as key, making two recoveries, entering into eight ground duels, and winning 80 per cent of his aerial duels, as well as two fouls.
Newcastle United cashing in on Woltemade is not an option
Newcastle signed Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart for £69million during the summer of 2025, and the early signs were extremely positive.
The excitement quickly dwindled, though, and Stefan Borson told Football Insider that his value is likely to have already dropped to below £40m.
Should they look to sell him next summer, that would be a huge amount of money lost in just 24 months. Rather than sell, they need to give him another chance.
Jaissle is currently being shown how to get the very best out of him, and that's his own fault if he fails to listen ahead of next season.
