Newcastle fans will love what Dino Toppmoller once said about Hugo Larsson
Newcastle United are desperate for new additions through the door and have been recently linked with a move for Hugo Larsson.
Reports have emerged that the Magpies have contacted the representatives of the Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder.
The German outfit are under no pressure to sell the 22-year-old, and a £34million bid would be needed to even into serious negotiations.
In the Bundesliga, Larsson has emerged as one of the best upcoming midfielders in the division.
This prompted former Frankfurt manager, Dino Toppmoller, to heavily praise the youngster, citing that his ability is “outstanding”.
Larsson was coached under Toppmoller from 2023 until 2026.
Dino Toppmoller: Hugo Larsson overcome obstacles
Newcastle are in need of a new midfielder after Sandro Tonali’s move to Tottenham Hotspur.
So far, they have struggled to find a replacement, with the start of the Premier League season now just over a month away.
Therefore, Absolut Fussball’s report of Newcastle’s interest in Larsson will cause plenty of intrigue in the fanbase.
While predominantly unknown in England, the midfielder has earned a good reputation for his work at Frankfurt.
This is seen in Toppmoller’s praise of the youngster back on 19 December 2023.
He told SGE4EVER: "His talent and mental stability are outstanding. All our players have talent. The question is: How do you deal with setbacks?
“I take my hat off to how Hugo overcomes obstacles. He lives and breathes football. This is also evident in the individual video analyses.
“He asks questions, wants to know everything, and afterwards says: 'I love this and want more of it.'"
As a result, this will no doubt excite Newcastle fans. Supporters want to see players with quality and passion for the game, and it appears Larsson has this in abundance.
Who else are Newcastle linked with?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Zion Suzuki could sign for Newcastle United this summer.
The Japan international had an outstanding 2026 World Cup before the nation were knocked out by Brazil.
Newcastle are chasing a new goalkeeper this summer, but will only make a move for the Parma star if they cannot seal a deal for James Trafford.
The Magpies are big admirers of the Japan international, but still view Trafford as their "number one target" as their goalkeeper for next season.
The Tynesiders are "hopeful" that they would be able to land Suzuki if they decided to firm up their interest, with Parma understood to be ready to cash in on the 23-year-old.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who the Magpies will bring in over the coming weeks, with a lot of pressure on the club to sign some players.
