Newcastle United’s next signing will be £50m ‘superstar’ after Sky update – pundit
Newcastle United’s next signing should be a “superstar” who will cost around £50million.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ transfer business.
As per Sky Sports’ Keith Downie (24 June), Newcastle have agreed a £39million deal to sign Lille defender Sven Botman.

It is claimed agreeing personal terms with the 22-year-old will not be an issue as Eddie Howe nears his third summer signing.
Matt Targett and Nick Pope have already arrived from Aston Villa and Burnley respectively this summer.
Kenny claims now is the right time for Newcastle to be looking to sign a “superstar”.
“Well you have Pope and Targett in, they are your solid signings,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“They are improvements and they are good signings. There has been a lot of talk about a statement signing or a superstar signing.
“I think now is the time for that. You have got a couple of faces in, the ball is rolling, go and make a splash.
“Newcastle have access to all of this money and the project there is unbelievable.
“They can attract big names, just show them videos of that crowd. Anyone would want to play there.
“I think now is the time we will see some properly big deals. No offence to Targett or Pope, they are good players.
“Bit I think even they will admit that a £40million or £50million signing isn’t far away.”

Botman is set to become Howe’s fifth defensive signing at Newcastle.
He will battle with Dan Burn and Fabian Schar for a starting place.
