Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali valuation is revealed after confirmed transfer news
Sandro Tonali’s future at Newcastle has been uncertain as they aim to tie him to a new contract and a new development has now emerged on his current situation.
Sandro Tonali joined Newcastle from AC Milan for £60million in 2023 to become the most expensive Italian player ever, and he has impressed for the club in the last two years despite serving a 10-month ban for breaching betting regulations not long after joining.
The 25-year-old featured 45 times last term as the Magpies finished fifth in the top-flight, and his future on Tyneside has been the subject of widespread speculation in recent months as a result of his strong form.
Reports emerged over the summer that Juventus wanted to make a move for Tonali, but he remained at Newcastle for 2025-26, and the club now want to tie him down to a new contract.
There are “no guarantees” that Tonali pens fresh terms with Newcastle with new sporting director Ross Wilson aiming to make a new deal his top priority, and a new development has now come to light about their potential demands for interested teams in future windows.

Newcastle place £130m price tag on Tonali’s head
Tonali’s current contract at St James’ Park runs until 2028, so there is no danger of him leaving the club for free anytime soon, but they want to offer him better terms to keep him happy going forward.
He has started this season in fine form in the middle of the park alongside Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes, with two assists in nine appearances so far, and the Magpies’ chiefs clearly rate him very highly.
According to a new report from Chronicle Live, Newcastle are set to hold out for a top fee for Tonali, similar to what they did with Alexander Isak, with interested clubs expected to pay over £130million if they wish to take him off their hands.
Continued interest from Juventus and a potential return to Milan can be largely ignored, as a result, with the Magpies’ hierarchy aware that no Serie A club would be able to afford him at that price.
Tonali has hinted at a return to Italy, Eddie Howe will want him to stay
Even though Newcastle are rightly set to hold out for a huge fee from those interested in Tonali, meaning a move away seems unlikely, he has chosen to stoke the flames of speculation around a Tyneside exit rather than play it down.
Speaking to Vivo Azzurro (via Chronicle Live) while on international duty with Italy this week, he said: “You can never know what will happen, I tell everyone it’s possible (to return to playing in Italy).
“I’m not closing the door on Italy; it’s my country. Maybe not now because I’ve found my balance at Newcastle, but the league is getting better and better, the level of the teams is rising.”

The 25-year-old was pictured meeting with his agent, Giuseppe Riso, in Milan prior to those comments, and so it seems like he is open to a move away from Newcastle in the future even if an imminent departure is not on the cards.
Magpies boss Eddie Howe has previously called him an “outstanding player” and “very, very clever,” so it goes without saying that he will want him to stay at the club for the long-term, and this new price-tag revelation makes that seem very likely.
