Alexander Isak’s new price tag revealed – ‘He’s so hot, this is the number I’ve heard’

Alexander Isak is scoring at will for Newcastle this term and speculation over his long-term St James’ Park future is not going away.

Isak is a top target for Liverpool after his stunning form in the 2024-25 campaign so far, while Arsenal have held a long-term interest in the forward.

Football Insider has previously been told that Newcastle may “have to look at a deal” if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed what he has heard about Isak’s price tag at Newcastle.

Newcastle want £140m+ for Alexander Isak

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Newcastle will not even consider bids of £100million – and are instead looking for around £140million.

That figure could be a Premier League record fee, potentially eclipsing the £142million (after add-ons) paid to Liverpool by Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho in 2018.

Player (Club)Fee (€)
Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea)121million
Jack Grealish (Man City)117.5million
Declan Rice (Arsenal)116.6million
Moises Caicedo (Chelsea)116million
Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea)113million
Top five Premier League signings (as per Transfermarkt)

Wyness insisted Isak is a “special talent”.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I don’t accept they will be looking for £100million, it’s going to be way more than that if they are looking to sell Isak.

“I’ve heard numbers as high as £140million. That’s where I think his value is at because he’s so hot right now, provided he stays injury-free.

“There’s no doubt that he’s a special talent.

“Unless there is some sort of release clause in his contract, and I don’t think there is, I don’t think bids of £100million would even be considered.

“If he’s going to go, it’ll be for a very big fee.”

Semenyo deal is ‘top priority for Newcastle’

Meanwhile, Football Insider has been told by recruitment expert Mick Brown (20 February) that Newcastle are eyeing Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo as one of their primary targets ahead of the summer.

Newcastle are prioritising the signing of a right-winger in the off-season despite Jacob Murphy’s performances.

Semenyo has notched nine goals and five assists in 28 games across all competitions for high-flying Bournemouth this term.
