Shrewdest signing since Snodgrass among next three Leeds confirmed breakthrough players

Paudie O’Connor

Prised from the backwaters of Irish football last spring, centre-back O’Connor has made impressive strides at Leeds. He is captain of the Under-23s and has been a pivotal figure in the team’s rapid improvement this season to the point where he has been promoted to train with the first-team. O’Connor joined Dalby in the travelling party at Craven Cottage and, although he did not make the matchday squad, it will have been a huge boost in his quest to make the breakthrough. The big defender appears next in line, and could be fast-tracked if Matthew Pennington’s calf injury turns out to be serious. As Heckingbottom admitted, his time is about to come.
