Next West Brom manager: Tony Mowbray odds slashed after source’s reveal
Tony Mowbray’s odds of becoming the next West Brom manager have been slashed.
The former Baggies manager has been linked with a return to The Hawthorns for a third time after Eric Ramsay was sacked last week.
West Brom are currently in the middle of a relegation battle and are looking to avoid a drop into League One.
Football Insider recently revealed that West Brom have been eyeing Mowbray for an interim role, with preliminary talks being held between the two parties.
Now, according to Oddschecker on 2 March, the odds of Mowbray becoming the manager of the Black Country club have been slashed down to 12/1.

Tony Mowbray would surely be an unpopular appointment at West Brom
While no one can question the work Mowbray has previously done at the Baggies, the appointment would surely be an unpopular one.
The manager started the downfall of the current side as his poor second reign saw them fall out of the playoffs.
While they were always near the top of the table, it was clear that he was incapable of getting the best out of many of the current squad.
🗣️When asked if he felt let down by the West Brom players, interim head coach James Morrison said this:

“Yes, I do. I’ve said to them before, I’m with them 100 per cent, I feel like one of them. I felt the tools were there to put a performance in, and it wasn’t there.”

Therefore, his return would just be another step backwards, and even more evidence that the board are panicking.
However, despite the heavy links, Mowbray is far from the favourite for the job.
Who else is linked to the West Brom job?
At present, Darren Moore is the heavy favourite for the West Brom job.
The odds of a return to The Hawthorns are currently priced at 1/2, despite his last job being at Port Vale, who were bottom of League One when he was dismissed earlier this season.
James Morrison remains the second favourite at 2/1, while a return for Slaven Bilic is also not ruled out at 8/1.
Bilic previously guided the Black Country club to the Premier League before he was controversially sacked mid-way through their campaign in the top-flight.

A potential outsider is Sean Dyche, who is 16/1 to make a quick return to the dugout.
Dyche was sacked from Nottingham Forest last month despite holding a relatively good record at the City Ground.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who the Baggies opt to appoint as they look to avoid relegation to League One.
