Nick Woltemade can already match one of Alan Shearer’s Newcastle feats vs Nottingham Forest
Nick Woltemade has enjoyed a successful start to his Newcastle United career since joining from Stuttgart in the summer transfer window.
Woltemade’s third goal of the season helped fire Newcastle to their 4-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League.
The Germany international has also scored two goals in the Premier League for the Magpies, which came in a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal and a 1-0 win over Wolves, respectively.
Eddie Howe is hoping for a reaction from his side in the top flight, after Newcastle lost 2-1 to Arsenal on Sunday, 28 September.

Nick Woltemade can score in each of his first three home games for Newcastle in the Premier League
Howe was left delighted when Woltemade’s first goal of the season led Newcastle to a 1-0 win over Wolves last month.
The 23-year-old’s goal against Arsenal was less memorable, though, as the Magpies fell to a late defeat against Arsenal.
If Woltemade continues his goal scoring form at St James’ Park, by scoring against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 5 October, he will have been on target in each of his first three home games in the Premier League.
The only players in Newcastle’s history who have achieved that feat are Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer.
Eddie Howe has a strong record against Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou
Nottingham Forest were defeated 3-2 by Midjtylland in their first home game of the Europa League campaign on Thursday, 2 October.
Newcastle United all competitions | Last three results |
Bradford City (H) | 4-1 W |
Arsenal (H) | 1-2 L |
Union Saint-Gilloise (A) | 0-4 W |
The City Ground club are now winless in six attempts since Ange Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo, and will be eager to bounce back with a victory over Newcastle.
However, Howe boasts a strong record against Postecoglou, as Newcastle beat the Australian’s former club Tottenham by an aggregate score of 8-2 in their last three Premier League games with the North Londoners.
The East Midlands side have not maintained a clean sheet this season, bolstering Woltemade’s chances of matching Ferdinand and Shearer’s historic exploits at St James’ Park, while Howe should be confident of maintaining his strong record against the Forest boss.
Newcastle have not won in the Premier League since their triumph over Wolves on 13 September, so a victory over Postecoglou’s side would help kickstart their top-flight season.
