Niclas Fullkrug transfer edges closer as West Ham approach ‘discussed’

Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in a January move for West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug as he aims to leave following a tough first few months of the campaign.

Niclas Fullkrug has struggled to ever make much of an impact at West Ham since his big-money switch from Borussia Dortmund last year.

The 32-year-old striker scored just three times in 20 appearances in his debut campaign at the club amid injury issues, yet failed to secure a move away from the East London outfit in the summer.

He has only played eight times this season, with five league starts so far, and Football Insider recently revealed that West Ham plan to accept offers for Fullkrug in January after a poor start to the campaign.

Werder Bremen are exploring a move for Fullkrug, according to Football Insider’s sources, but they have now been joined by another Bundesliga side as a return to his home country beckons.

Eintracht Frankfurt weighing up Fullkrug move as they seek two new striker signings

Fullkrug has reportedly been offered to Roma and AC Milan by West Ham recently, with potential swap deals involving Artem Dovbyk and Santiago Gimenez both suggested.

A new update on his potential January destination has now been reported by Sky Sport Germany’s Patrick Berger, via X, who states that Fullkrug is being “discussed internally” by Eintracht Frankfurt chiefs.

Whether Frankfurt will prioritise his signing is unclear as they want to focus on bringing in developing players, but Sky Sport Germany‘s site furthers that report by revealing that Eintracht are looking for two new strikers, so he could join alongside a younger alternative.

West Ham tracking Franculino Dju as January striker signing eyed

Callum Wilson has emerged as Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-choice striker in recent weeks after a decent run of scoring form pushed him in front of Fullkrug in the manager’s pecking order.

Despite his decent showings, the Hammers are still very clearly lacking in attack and so are tracking different forwards with Fullkrug open to leaving.

West Ham are reportedly eyeing a January move for Franculino, who has scored 19 goals and notched three assists in 27 appearances for Midtjylland across all competitions this season.

Tottenham and Everton are also interested in his services, so a pursuit is not set to be made easy, but the Irons board simply have to back Nuno in January if they want to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.
