Nicolas Raskin ‘made a fool of himself’ as new Rangers details emerge – pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed Nicolas Raskin “made a fool of himself” in his latest Rangers press conference.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Raskin was “told” to say that he has always been a supporter of the Ibrox club.
The Belgian arrived at Rangers in the January window from Standard Liege and has made seven appearances for Michael Beale’s side so far.
As quoted by footballscotland (14 March), in his latest press conference the 22-year-old said that Ryan Kent is the only Rangers player he knew when he was younger.
The January arrival urged Kent to sign a new contract at Ibrox and is hopeful they can play alongside one another for a “long time”.
Kent’s current contract at the Glasgow club expires in the summer after joining from Liverpool back in 2019.
Earlier this month (2 March), sources told this site that the 26-year-old has been offered a new deal and is negotiating with the club over a potential extension.
McAvennie was confused by Raskin’s comments given Kent has only been with the club since 2019.
“Ryan Kent has only been there a couple of years,” he told Football Insider.

“He has obviously been told to talk the club up but he has made a fool of himself. Ryan has only been there four years. I think he is mistaken.
“He has obviously been told to say that he has always been a supporter and he has picked the wrong player.”
