Nicolas Raskin surely set for Rangers exit after new transfer development

Nicolas Raskin’s future at Rangers has long been speculated upon at Ibrox as the midfielder continues to impress.

The Belgium international has had a rollercoaster few months at the Old Firm side.

Raskin was previously dropped by Russell Martin, but has quickly become a star player once again under Danny Rohl.

However, this has not ended rumours that Raskin could leave Rangers sooner rather than later

Now, with the Gers linked with a move for Dan Neil, it could spell the end of the midfielder’s time at Ibrox.

Rangers eye loan deal for Dan Neil

According to Keith Downie on 9 January, Rangers have made enquiries for both Neil and Romaine Mundle.

The Sunderland duo have struggled for game time since the Black Cats’ promotion to the Premier League despite playing a vital role last season.

However, with Neil being a natural defensive midfielder like Raskin, it suggests that the midfielder is set for a departure.

While there are suggestions that selling Raskin would be a backwards move, Rohl is seemingly hunting for replacements.

A loan move for Neil could essentially be a trial for the former Sunderland captain to see if he can match the levels needed. Therefore, the Black Cats star could soon find himself on a permanent deal at Ibrox if successful.

If so, then Raskin will surely be finally allowed to leave the Ibrox club in the summer.

What has Danny Rohl said about Rangers’ January transfer business?

With Rangers back in the race for the Scottish Premiership title, the January transfer window could be vital to achieving this goal.

The Gers are already closing in on Tuur Rommens and Sturm Graz midfielder Tochi Chukwuani, with the duo set to add extra quality to the Old Firm side’s depth.

However, when asked about potential signings before the Aberdeen match, Rohl refused to comment on how close Rangers were to signing the duo.

He told BBC Sport on 9 January: “I cannot confirm yet because you never know what happens in the next 24 hours.

“We are in a good way. We are looking at some other positions as well, but let’s do the first job with the first two players and then let’s see what we can do next.”
