Noel Whelan backs Leeds United recalls for Jack Harrison and star teammate after early team news
Noel Whelan has claimed Jack Harrison and Rodrigo “have a case” to be brought back into the Leeds United starting eleven for this Sunday’s (23 October) game against Fulham.
The former Whites striker and club ambassador was speaking exclusively to Football Insider in the aftermath of his old sides’ 2-0 away defeat at Leicester in midweek.
Harrison was dropped for the first time this term at Leeds United on Thursday (20 October) – with youngster Crysensio Summerville coming into Jesse Marsch’s side.
Rodrigo was also axed from the lineup but both players came on in the second half as the Whites desperately tried to overturn the two-goal deficit.
Speaking before the Fulham game and quoted by Leeds Live (21 October), manager Jesse Marsch revealed he is “hopeful” that Pascal Struijk will be fit for the clash.
The Whites now sit 16th in the Premier League after 10 games – and have gone two months without a league victory.
When asked who could come into the side and help stop that slide, Whelan told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Straight away you’ve got to look at Harrison.
“I think he’s someone who can make a real difference with his energy and his ability to create something and score goals.
“There’s also a case for Rodrigo to come in.

“I don’t think Bamford did enough against Leicester – he certainly didn’t look as good as he did against Arsenal.
“There’s a case for a few changes against Fulham, for sure.”
