Nottingham Forest could land ‘huge’ points deduction – pundit
Nottingham Forest would be handed a “huge” boost if they receive one point back following the appeal over their four-point deduction.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed Forest have enough quality at their disposal to avoid relegation this season.
The club are currently waiting to hear whether their appeal has been successful after they were deducted four points in March for breaching the Premier League’s spending rules.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are now three points above third-bottom Luton Town following their 3-1 victory over Sheffield United on 4 May.
Nottingham Forest could be set for points deduction boost
Robinson believes Forest have some more winnable fixtures coming up in their fight for top-flight survival.
“They have enough to stay up, I’ve always said that,” he told Football Insider.
“I think performances-wise, you look at the players they have got, you look at Hudson-Odoi, Elanga, Gibbs-White and the goalscoring form that Chris Wood is in.
“They were unfortunate at Everton and played very well against Manchester City. Home form should be the key for them, but it hasn’t been this season. They haven’t been that good at home.
“But you look at where they are in the table and at the games they have coming up. They are at home to Chelsea and I fancy them after the way they played against Manchester City.
“Chelsea have won one of their last nine away games and them coming to the City Ground wouldn’t hold much fear for Forest I don’t think.

“Then they have Burnley away on the last game of the season. It’s in their own hands.
“It’s between Forest, Luton and Burnley, two out of the three are going to go. But I think Forest are better equipped.
“We’re waiting for an answer on the appeals. If they get one point back, that’s going to be such a huge boost for them and the momentum that could give them.”
