Nottingham Forest could land new devastating points deduction – sources
Nottingham Forest are in danger of breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) again, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke admitted Forest could have to sell players this summer to balance the books and get on top of their finances.
The Reds were handed a four-point deduction in March for breaching the Premier League’s spending rules.
There could potentially be another points deduction on the cards if they break the rules again in the near future, with O’Rourke revealing that is a realistic possibility after the club posted a £61.5million operating loss in their most recent accounts.
Nottingham Forest could face second points deduction
There are a number of players Forest could look to make a healthy profit on if they are forced to balance the books this summer.
There is expected to be interest in the likes of attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and defender Murillo, while winger Anthony Elanga has also impressed this season.
Nuno Espirito Santo won’t want to lose any of his star players, but he could have no choice on the matter even if his side remains in the Premier League.
The Reds provided their survival hopes with a massive boost against Sheffield United on 4 May, where they claimed a 3-1 victory at Bramall Lane.

The club are also waiting to hear back whether their points deduction appeal has been successful, potentially putting some more points back on the board.
But there will still be concerns at the City Ground over any future punishments that could be heading Forest’s way as they continue to toe the financial fair play line.
