Nottingham Forest fans are raging after ‘outrageous’ development – pundit
Nottingham Forest must “treat their fans better” after they announced major increases to season ticket prices.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed that fans would “understand” occasional increases, but was adamant that “hardcore” Forest supporters are being punished after the “huge” price hike.
The Reds announced this week that season tickets will increase at an average rate of 24 per cent from next season, despite the club firmly in a relegation battle.
The decision was met with widespread criticism from Forest fans, with their supporters’ group stating that they “strongly oppose” their club’s “totally disproportionate” decision.
Nottingham Forest fans right to be ‘outraged’ after price hikes
Robinson claimed that Forest’s relatively smaller stature in the Premier League should motivate the club to treat their core fanbase with more respect.
“We’ve seen these problems at other clubs and seen their fans protest over season ticket prices,” he told the Inside Track podcast.
“You can understand why clubs are raising their prices with the cost of living crisis and everything else.
“Clubs are trying to increase their revenue due to PSR and FFP.
“But the hardcore nucleus of the fanbase is getting punished once again.
“Clubs don’t think about the investment that fans put into their club – add up the price of tickets, transport, hotels and so on.
“Supporters understand that things get more expensive, but 24 per cent in one season is huge.
“You can understand why fans think this is outrageous.
“Forest aren’t a huge tourist attraction and not a huge draw compared to other teams.

“If you’re a top-six fan, their clubs have lists of thousands of fans who are waiting for tickets, so they can afford to raise their prices as someone will pay it.
“With Forest, they have to treat their fans better.”
