‘New era’ – Nottingham Forest fans react as lethal forward reportedly nears switch

By Danny Wright

Nottingham Forest are reportedly close to signing Hibernian forward Jason Cummings – and the fans on Twitter are delighted.

Telegraph correspondent John Percy reported on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that the 21-year-old has completed a medical with the East Midlands club ahead of a £1million move.

It is understood that Forest are in the “final stages of negotiations” with the eight-times Scotland Under-21 international, meaning that they could make him their first signing of the summer.

Cummings has proved lethal in the Scottish Championship with Hiberian this season, scoring 19 league goals in 31 appearances as Neil Lennon’s side went on to secure promotion by winning the title.

Mark Warburton is yet to make his first signing since moving to the City Ground in March following a controversial spell at Rangers.

And it looks as though the fans are thoroughly impressed with this potential deal – with one saying that it looks like the Reds are entering a “new era”.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Cummings has been on the books at Hibs since 2013 after rising through the youth ranks at East Lothian and Hearts.

He has made a total of 149 appearances for the Edinburgh-based club and has scored 71 goals.

The pacey striker was part of the Scottish Cup winning squad of 2016 when they beat Rangers in an all-Championship final.
