Nottingham Forest fans ‘wowed’ by what they have just seen from Omar Richards

Nottingham Forest fans were delighted to see defender Omar Richards score in their pre-season draw against Sunderland.

The 26-year-old scored on his debut, a 46th-minute equaliser to help his side to a 1-1 draw with Championship promotion hopefuls Sunderland.

Richards was on loan at Greek side Olympiacos last season, having been out injured for 354 days with a broken leg.

The goal was his first for the club since his move from Bayern Munich in July 2022. Richards is also yet to make an appearance for Forest because of his severe injury.

Forest fans were shocked to see Richards miss out on a place in their 3-0 win against Chesterfield, and now the left-back has repaid their faith.

Nottingham Forest fans happy to see Richards back after serious injury

The defender has struggled with injury and fitness issues since breaking his leg in 2022, limiting him to just 15 appearances for Olympiacos last season, helping them to a Europa League Conference title.

A left-back capable of offering a dangerous attacking option, Richards had a crossing accuracy of 32 per cent in the Greek Super League last season.

Richards is now fully fit and ready to help his side as they seek to beat their 17th-place finish last season, returning with a thundering strike from a tight angle.
