Nottingham Forest have agreed ‘side deal’ with Premier League after PSR twist – pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed that Nottingham Forest must have assurances from the Premier League that they will not have points added to their punishment after their appeal.

The former England and Tottenham goalkeeper exclusively told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that he was surprised to see Forest appeal their decision after getting a lighter punishment for a “worse crime” than Everton.

Forest were deducted four points earlier this month after being charged with a breach of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Despite receiving two points off their deduction for their compliance in the investigation, Forest announced on Monday (25 March) that they have appealed the decision.

As revealed by Football Insider, there is a “disaster” scenario where Forest could have points added to their punishment after their appeal.

Nottingham Forest must have assurances that PSR appeal won’t backfire

The result of their appeal will be delivered by the independent commission on May 24 – five days after the end of the Premier League season.

Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson believes Forest must have assurances that their deduction won’t be added to.

“I wouldn’t think that Nottingham Forest would have appealed unless they know that they’re ok,” he said.

Forest appear very confident that they’re not going to get any more points taken off by appealing.

Yet it seems that they had fewer points taken off for a worse crime than Everton just because they were nice.

So they must have a back word somewhere that there’s no chance of getting more points but they might get some back.
