Nottingham Forest are plotting a summer raid for Brighton attacker Ryan Longman, Football Insider understands.

A host of Championship clubs are on alert amid the growing likelihood of the winger, 20, heading out of the Seagulls in this window.

A recruitment source told Football Insider that Forest are among those in the chase for Longman, who has entered the final year of his Brighton contract and has yet to agree an extension.

That is not for lack of trying on Brighton's part, however, as Football Insider revealed in April that the Premier League club was in talks to offer him a new and improved deal.

Longman made his professional debut for the south coast side in September 2019 in a League Cup defeat to Aston Villa.

That was his only appearance of the campaign and the youngster was loaned out to League One side AFC Wimbledon for 2020-21.

He had an impressive season out on loan, scoring nine goals and supplying five assists.

His contribution helped Mark Robinson's side beat the drop by four points as they lost just once in their last eight league matches.

Longman has shone for the Wombles in a number of different positions in both midfield and attack.

He spent much of the season playing as a centre-forward but is also accomplished as either a left or right-winger.

In Forest, Longman would join a side that finished 17th in the second-tier last term under the stewardship of Chris Hughton.
