Sources: Nottingham Forest and Barnsley race to sign Marcondes from Brentford
Nottingham Forest and Barnsley lead the chase to sign Brentford play-off hero Emiliano Marcondes, Football Insider can reveal.
The Danish midfielder, 26, was one of three players, with Henrik Dalsgaard and Luke Daniels, released by the Bees with their contracts expiring this month.
A source has told Football Insider Championship duo Forest and Barnsley have registered their interest in signing Marcondes on a summer free.
Both clubs are expected to offer contracts to the former Denmark Under-21 international.
Marcondes produced a man-of-the-match performance in the Championship play-off final, scoring the second goal in the 2-0 win over Swansea City.
He also provided the assist for the winner in the 3-1 second leg semi-final victory over Bournemouth.

However, his efforts did not seem him rewarded with a new contract as Brentford prepare for their first season back in the top flight for almost 50 years.
Marcondes ended his three-year association with the club with seven goals and 13 assists in 97 appearances across all competitions.
That includes three goals and three assists in 40 games in the recently completed campaign.
Both Nottingham Forest and Barnsley are in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer.
Forest ended the campaign in 17th-position while Barnsley lost to Swansea City in the play-off semi-finals.
Football Insider revealed today (June 11) the Tykes are preparing a bid for Ipswich Town midfielder Flynn Downes who will be allowed to leave if the right offer is made.
It comes amid uncertainty over Alex Mowatt’s future although CEO Dane Murphy is confident he will commit to Barnsley.
