Nottingham Forest told to ‘get rid’ of Jesse Lingard after source’s reveal – pundit
Alan Hutton has urged Jesse Lingard to put himself “in the shop window” as he is set to be axed by Nottingham Forest.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender insisted Forest need to trim their squad at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old signed a one-year deal with Steve Cooper’s side last summer after leaving Man United.

On Sunday (12 March), sources told this site that Forest are not willing to offer Lingard a new deal and will part ways with him at the end of the season.
The former England international hasn’t scored or assisted in his 16 Premier League appearances this season, his only goal contributions coming in Forest’s League Cup campaign.
Lingard enjoyed a successful spell on loan at West Ham in the 2020-21 season and the club had been interested in taking him permanently after his United contract expired, but the midfielder ultimately joined Nottingham Forest instead.
When asked if Lingard may be regretting not joining the Hammers on a permanent basis, Hutton told Football Insider: “Maybe.
“Injuries and lack of form, you do not see that at the time so it is difficult for him to look back and say ‘maybe I should have done this’.
“For him, it is about staying fit, trying to get his minutes up.

“Obviously Forest are going to have to trim that squad there is no getting away from it. They are going to have to get rid of some and he might be that one guy.
“I think he is on quite a large contract as well. It is maybe going to be something that he will have to look at. But it is all about staying fit and healthy, playing as much as you can and putting yourself in the shop window if that is the case.“
In other news, Nottingham Forest ‘fire sale’ on the cards if they are relegated, according to sources.
