Nottingham Forest turn attention to agreeing Brian Brobbey deal – sources
Nottingham Forest are ready to turn their attention to Ajax forward Brian Brobbey after missing out on Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, sources have told Football Insider.
Forest were hoping to bring Mexican striker Gimenez to the Premier League, but the player has rejected a potential move to the City Ground.
Forest are now back looking at alternative targets and have set their sights on Ajax hit-man Brobbey.
The 22-year-old is highly-regarded having come through the ranks at Ajax’s famed academy and has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in the past.
He is under contract at Ajax until 2027, and it would take a big fee to try and prise him away from Amsterdam.
Forest have prioritised signing a striker in this transfer window but are now running out of time to complete a deal.
Nottingham Forest could land a promising forward in Brian Brobbey
Brobbey is a proven goalscorer, having scored 134 goals in 246 appearances throughout his career.
The Netherlands international is coming off the back of a positive season where he scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists which led to a Euro 2024 call-up.
Brobbey will be the third striker that Forest have pursued in recent weeks after the club also missed out on Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah.

Brobbey isn’t the only late-window signing that Forest are attempting to make this week, as the club are also set to make an ambitious move for James Ward-Prowse.
In other news, Colchester agree to sign Nottingham Forest’s Aaron Donnelly.
