Nottingham Forest vs Brighton postponement latest as Met Office issue new weather warning

Nottingham Forest’s clash with Brighton at the City Ground on Sunday could face a battle against the elements after the Met Office released a weather warning.

Sean Dyche took over at the City Ground just over a month ago and is looking to make it four consecutive wins across all competitions, after Nottingham Forest beat Malmo 3-0 on Thursday.

The former Burnley manager took over a team that had gone 10 games without victory under Ange Postecoglou, but the Englishman has led his side to four wins from seven since.

Ryan Yates was particularly impressive against Malmo, but is expected to return to the bench on Sunday amid the strong form of Elliott Anderson.

Brighton beat Brentford 2-1 last week, with Danny Welbeck and Jack Hinshelwood claiming the goals for the Seagulls.

Met Office warning provides concern ahead of Nottingham Forest vs Brighton

Morgan Gibbs-White was ruled out against Malmo, with some doubts persisting over the midfielder’s availability for Sunday’s clash.

The England international got off to a slow start this season following a turbulent summer that saw him go extremely close to signing for Tottenham, before he ultimately signed a new contract at the City Ground.

Bournemouth 2-0 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest 2-2 Manchester United
Nottingham Forest 3-1 Leeds United
Liverpool 0-3 Nottingham Forest

But in recent weeks, the 25-year-old has once again come alive. The midfielder netted against Porto in Dyche’s first game, and has scored in each of his last three Premier League appearances.

Nottingham Forest‘s 3-0 destruction of Liverpool at Anfield last week marked a clear turning point for the Tricky Trees, who will now hope to continue building momentum on Sunday.

Brighton do represent a difficult opponent, however, with Fabian Hurzeler‘s side unbeaten in their last three Premier League fixtures.

That is if the game does go ahead, however, with the Met Office issuing a yellow warning for ice in the area surrounding Nottingham.

Both teams will hope that the situation does not intensify, with match officials likely surveying conditions at the City Ground closely.

Sean Dyche ready to keep building momentum

It has been a positive recovery from Nottingham Forest, but there is still work to be done if Dyche’s side are to go anywhere close to matching last season’s campaign.

“Now we have another game against another good side,” the former Everton boss said ahead of Sunday’s game.

“Over the years they’ve recruited very well. They’ve sold players but replaced them well, and they’re going strong this season.

“We have to be ready again, but you can see by the mentality of the games we’ve had since we’ve been here that it’s growing, so that’s going to be important to us: that we’re ready to go.”

Luckily, Nottingham Forest have regained the backing of the City Ground faithful, who will be in full voice to meet their visitors on Sunday.
