Evangelos Marinakis masterstroke: How Nottingham Forest can strike bargain Dodo transfer

Nottingham Forest remain patient as talks continue to sign Fiorentina right-back Dodo before the summer window closes.

Oliver Glasner's side registered their interest much earlier in the summer, also targeting a move for Feyenoord star Givairo Read.

With just days remaining until the transfer market slams shut until January, however, the Reds are still lacking depth in the full-backs departments.

Given that Neco Williams' future is also up in the air amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, a deal for Dodo looks key.

The Serie A side are not budging on the player's price tag, though, having swiftly rejected a €7million (£6m) offer from Forest in recent days.

Fiorentina want €10m (£8.6m) for the 27-year-old Brazilian, but they may have no choice but to lower their expectations before the window shuts.

Evangelos Marinakis to get Dodo deal over the line

Dodo remains an important player at the Artemio Franchi stadium, but his contract situation has added a layer of difficulty for the Italian side.

There are no signs of the right-back signing of a contract extension, which means that Fiorentina would lose him for nothing in 12 months.

Instead, they could cash in right now, but would have to lower the player's price tag if they were to reach an agreement with the Premier League club.

This is exactly why Evangelos Marinakis remains in charge of transfers at the City Ground, having also gotten a deal across the line for Ousmane Diomande.

The Greek owner is not one to be pushed around in the transfer market. When he wants something, he gets it, but he'll happily walk away if the deal isn't good enough for him.

Who else could Nottingham Forest sign this summer?

The Reds have just announced the signing of Liam Delap from Chelsea, despite previous reports that the striker position wasn't a priority.

Sporting CP's Luis Suarez has also been identified as a target, but a move for the Colombian international looks extremely unlikely now.

Late moves could also be made for Lucas Bergvall and Javi Rueda, but the clock is ticking down on these deals to be agreed this summer.

Glasner has a lot of talent to work with at the City Ground already, but his first two games in charge have left a lot to be desired.
