Nottingham Forest fans impressed by Liam Delap as full stats emerge

Nottingham Forest supporters are already excited to see Liam Delap in action against following his debut against Liverpool.

In a club-record deal, the Reds signed the centre-forward from Chelsea for £50million on Thursday, 27 August, and was thrown straight into the squad.

He had to bide his time, however, sitting patiently on the bench before finally replacing Dan Ndoye in the 66th minute.

Having replaced Forest's goalscorer, he had some big expectations, and with the score tied at 1-1, he made an instant impact at Anfield on Saturday, 29 August.

The 23-year-old's quick throw-in led to Neco Williams being taken down inside the penalty area, allowing Morgan Gibbs-White to convert from 12 yards.

Although Victor Munoz dragged Andoni Iraola's side level once again, he helped the Tricky Trees to earn a precious point away from home.

Delap only needed seconds to impress, and supporters will now be hoping to see him from the start against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, 5 September.

Being described as a "handful," one supporter went as far as to compare him to "Prime Neymar" after leaving Ronald Araujo in his dust.

It was not a complete performance from him by any means. He can do so much more for Forest, but the early signs were good away from the City Ground.

He was only on the pitch for 24 minutes, but it was more than enough time for the new signing to make the desired impact on Merseyside.

In that time, Delap created one big chance, had a shot blocked, and completed two of his three dribbles, the joint-most of anyone [FotMob].

In the defensive third, the striker entered into five ground duels, winning 40 per cent of them, while also reaching a top speed of 30.7km/h.

Sadly, he was unable to hit the back of the net in a competitive game for the first time since January, but it was a positive first impression.

His arrival could even push Igor Jesus and Chris Wood to perform better, and that can only be good news for Oliver Glasner.
