Oliver Glasner is set to be the driving force behind Nottingham Forest's next move for Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest have already seen a bid to sign Bergvall rejected by Spurs this summer, but are lining up another offer.

The 20-year-old is keen to leave the club before the window closes after seeing serious competition for places arrive in midfield.

Newcastle are also lining up another bid to sign Bergvall after seeing an initial £46million offer turned down last month.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Reds manager Glasner remains keen to sign the Tottenham starlet and will look to accelerate a move in the coming weeks.

He is looking to offset the loss of Elliot Anderson to Man City by bolstering his midfield options after Xaver Schlager's arrival earlier in the window.

Oliver Glasner behind Nottingham Forest's continued pursuit of Lucas Bergvall

Bergvall has remained a regular in Roberto De Zerbi's side in pre-season, despite talk that he believes he will struggle for game time once the competitive campaign is underway.

He has impressed in his two seasons at Spurs, and will not come cheap with three years still to run on his current contract.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Forest are big admirers of the Swedish international and are very much interested in him, having already had a bid rejected for Bergvall this summer.

“I'm sure Oliver Glasner will be looking to revisit that situation if there is a possibility that a deal can be agreed.”

With Anderson gone and more targets on the agenda, Glasner believes that his side will not lose any more key players between now and 1 September.

Gibbs-White lit up the City Ground last season with consistently impressive performances to help Forest avoid relegation, as he bagged 15 Premier League goals.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Forest will not sell Gibbs-White for any fee this summer as Man City and Man United keep tabs on his services.

Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, but he is expected to stay in the East Midlands.
