Nottingham Forest are using Oliver Glasner's time at Crystal Palace to judge his progress, sources have told Football Insider.

The boss has won just one of the seven games he has taken charge of since his surprise appointment in the summer, leading to suggestions he could come under pressure.

However, after the success he enjoyed at Selhurst Park where they won three trophies in two seasons, the Forest board are prepaered to be patient with his progress.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Glasner is not under any immediate sack pressure but must start winning games soon.

During his spell as Crystal Palace manager, the Eagles also endured difficult spells, and won just two of their first ten games of the 2024-25 season before going on to win the FA Cup.

That has given Forest encouragement that with their support and backing, Glasner can still make a success of his tenure, despite what has been a below-par start at the City Ground.

What is Nottingham Forest's stance on Oliver Glasner's future?

Football Insider revealed on 16 October that Nottingham Forest have no plans to sack Glasner in the immediate future and are backing him to turn their form around.

The club's hierarchy have been impressed with their performances this season and believe the results have not reflected the way the team has played so far.

Those impressive displays, alongside his reputation built at Crystal Palace, mean the club are willing to give Glasner time to make a success of his time at the City Ground.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Glasner is a top manager, he proved that at Crystal Palace and that's what Nottingham Forest will be looking at.

"When you look at what he did there, he really turned around Palace's fortunes when he took over, because they were in a difficult spot.

"Things weren't always rosy for him there either, he had a slow start to his first full season in charge, and then he turned that around and won three trophies at Selhurst Park.

"So Forest won't be rushing to make a decision, they've seen what he can do from his time at Palace and they hope he can do the same for them.

"There'll be a sense within Forest that he will need time to get things right and obviously he's a manager with good experience. I don't think there'll be any panic from him either over that slow start."

When could Glasner be sacked by Nottingham Forest?

Despite Nottingham Forest having no plans to sack Glasner in the near future, and optimism that he can still turn things around, the uncertainty has not been dismissed.

A 3-1 defeat against his former club Crystal Palace last time out has led to growing calls for the manager's head, despite the performances showing signs of improvement.

Former Man United coach Mick Brown told Football Insider on 12 October that the nororiously trigger-happy Evangelos Marinakis could be losing patience with Glasner.

Forest have been through five managers since the start of last season, and could soon be moving onto their sixth if results do not improve in the near future.

After winning just one of their seven games so far this season, there is a growing feeling that a longer run without a win could force the club into a decision.
