Stefan Borson reveals Nottingham Forest's expected sack compensation to Oliver Glasner

Nottingham Forest would have to pay out a pricey compensation fee to part ways with Oliver Glasner so early into his tenure.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that, while unlikely, Forest may have to spend £7.5million to sack the manager.

The former Crystal Palace boss is just six games into his spell at the City Ground, but he is already facing pressure from the supporters.

Following the 1-0 defeat to Coventry City at home, the Reds have won just one of their first games under Glasner's leadership, seeing his odds shorten already.

Losing to the team bottom of the Premier League at the time came as a huge shock along the River Trent, and one that sparked fears of an early exit for the manager.

Glasner still has almost three years left on his contract with the Tricky Trees, so parting ways with him this early on would come at a hefty price.

Nottingham Forest risk '£7.5m' blow already

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson believes that Glasner's pay-off would be short of £10m, but not by much.

"That would be between £5m and £10m. Probably not as much as £10m, but it won't be far off, maybe £7.5m to sack him so soon," he said.

"I just don't think it's going to be on the cards, to be honest. And then you've then got the cost of bringing somebody in.

"If you've got Marinakis, who's sacked, I don't know how many managers it is over the last couple of seasons, that obviously has an impact on what a potential new manager thinks."

Several managers are ahead of him in terms of being under pressure, such as Roberto De Zerbi and Michael Carrick, but Marinakis is famous for his trigger finger in these situations.

Is Oliver Glasner safe at the City Ground?

Currently sitting 13th in the Premier League table, the alarm bells are not yet ringing at the City Ground, but it may not be long until they are.

Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that "whispers" are already emerging of Glasner needing to desperately turn his fortunes around.

It doesn't get much easier after the international break, with a trip to new rivals Crystal Palace in front of a packed-out Selhurst Park.

Pierre Sage's Eagles will be just as desperate for victory on Sunday, 11 October, with both sides lacking any real positive form.
