Nunez and Diaz react to Kostas Tsimikas message as Liverpool exits loom
Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have reacted to a new message from Kostas Tsimikas amid uncertainty around the trio’s future at Liverpool.
Liverpool’s desire to continue at the top of English football under Arne Slot has seen them spend big in the summer window to bolster their squad, with the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong signed for sizeable fees.
That sort of spending means they need to also sanction some exits, and the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth could mean another left-back leaves after former scout Mick Brown recently revealed to Football Insider that Nottingham Forest are plotting a move to sign Tsimikas with the Reds happy to cash in.
Diaz’ 2024/25 campaign was his best from an statistical standpoint since he joined the club, yet Football Insider recently revealed that the Colombian winger is “in negotiations” to leave Liverpool as talks over a new contract are yet to progress with Barcelona and Bayern interested in a move.
With Ekitike now confirmed as Slot’s new striker and the Anfield outfit set to bid £130m to sign Alexander Isak, former scout Brown has told Football Insider that Liverpool plan to accept a cut-price offer for Nunez, and he is not in the manager’s plans for the new campaign.

Tsimikas shares adidas collaboration post
Tsimikas’ future at Liverpool is seemingly yet to be decided, but he was handed a start in their first pre-season friendly against Preston North End recently, and so may well remain in Slot’s plans.
Away from the Reds, he is sponsored by sportswear giants adidas, and the Greek international shared a post involving the company on Instagram on Thursday (24 July), with him pictured wearing their apparel and boots alongside the caption: “Faster than the streetlights.”
Tsimikas’ post was liked by both Nunez and Diaz, who could also find themselves leaving Liverpool soon, while Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Ryan Gravenberch all followed suit.
Tsimikas’ future hinges on potential Andy Robertson exit
Football Insider verdict
Tsimikas has also been courted by newly-promoted Leeds United, as well as the subject of interest from Forest, yet his situation is set to mainly depend on what Liverpool decide to do with club legend Robertson this summer.
The Scot is a modern-day Liverpool hero, yet his individual form has dropped off in the last two seasons compared to previous campaigns, and Tsimikas made 29 appearances last term as a back-up left-back, which is his highest tally in a single season at the club since joining in 2020.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
342 | 11 | 67 |
Former scout Brown recently told Football Insider that Liverpool are prepared to accept offers for Robertson after the arrival of Kerkez, and if he does depart, that would surely mean Tsimikas stays on for at least another year as back-up to the Hungarian international.
Everton’s former chief, Keith Wyness, has also revealed to Football Insider that Slot sees value in keeping Robertson on Merseyside due to his experience, and so if the Dutch boss gets his way and he is not sold, then Tsimikas’ departure does feel like an almost foregone conclusion.
